Audience engagement is becoming a top priority for events
Attending a conference has the benefit of taking us away from the normal office environment to one where most of us feel a social contract to engage and be engaging with others.

There is so much competition for our attention in this multi-media, socially-connected world that a “talking head” speaking to a passive audience is no longer acceptable. The word “attendee” is being replaced with “participant” and participants expect to be engaged.

They expect to have a say in what is going on. They expect to continue to use their social media tools as they do at home. They expect to be treated as individuals rather than an email address on a mailing list. They are increasingly expecting a richer, more targeted and more interactive time at events and are making their event purchases choices accordingly.

Renegade has a number of experienced speakers who can assist your participants become engaged and ensure your event message continues long after the conference door closes. Some of our favourites are:

Already participants are using a Twitter hashtag to broadcast highlights and run commentary from your event. It's known as the Backchannel and it's an extra dimension which can be used to your advantage as a hub of communication. And it's not just for the participants... a conference hashtag is often followed by more people outside the event than in.

Yvonne combines her technology know-how with her vast conferencing experienced to create an 'Event Hub' service allowing you to outsource the social media activity for your event. This three-pronged approach sees Yvonne set up your social channels and hashtags, broadcast from the event and continue to seed the discussions long after the closing keynote. This gives you more 'real-estate' to offer to sponsors and exhibitors, a more rich delegate experience and a longer-tail ROI than ever before.

True engagement doesn't only happen during the event; it also happens before and after the event. When you engage Gihan as a keynote speaker for your conference, he helps increase anticipation and prepares participants before the event with things like self-assessment tools, planning webinars and interviews with other experts.

After the event, he helps reinforce and embed the learning with follow-up material that participants can do at their desk, such as support webinars, e-mail programs, and online resource centres.

Gihan works with business owners, entrepreneurs, CEOs and business managers, industry associations, and other leaders, helping them leverage their expertise, individually and in groups, on and off the Internet.
